North Bondi SLSC is committed to the safeguarding of children and young people in Surf Life Saving and as part of this commitment has been rolling out the Safeguarding Children and Young People Program.
In December 2018, the Board of Management (BOM) endorsed the Club’s Commitment Statement and started to raise awareness by requiring that members holding official positions in the club (eg BOM, trainers, coaches, Age Managers, Patrol Captains etc), undertake the SLS ‘Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course’, as well as competing the Working With Children Check(WWCC).
As part of the ongoing roll out of the program, we are now strongly encouraging all members of the club to take the online course. Details of the course are provided below.
Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course
This course takes around 30 minutes and provides participants with an awareness of child abuse and child protection and the confidence to be able to take appropriate action when they become concerned for the safety of a child.
Members should complete the course via the SLSA Members Portal to make sure this is recognised in your SurfGuard records.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Instructions on how to complete the WWC can be found on the Office of the Children’s Guardian website https://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/child-safe-organisations/working-with-children-check
Members should send details through to the office ([email protected]) in order for the information to be recorded on your SurfGuard record.
